I am currently wondering if I should have a blog for my next 106i class next semester. I like this, as my own blog, and I like to share (very sporadically but still) with a few friends… but I don’t think I’m a good conversation starter… so I can’t really get my students to be enthusiastic about writing on their blogs. The only thing I like about it is to give writing assignments here and then I don’t have any paper to collect and carry around. Maybe I’ll make it more specifically for one or two writing activities… I’d still miss not having one, I’ve gotten used to it now.
I also think that other people should have one where I could write on too… I’d like that, to have a conversation going with people like that… it’s nice, because you don’t have the time pressure, or the face to face obligation… you can just have an “online conversation” and share ideas and thoughts and stuff at your convenience…
Goodness, I ate way too much at Dan’s tonight! We worked for FIVE hours on our space and facilities management project! And we still have so much work to do!!! I love to work with those guys, though, it’s a lot of fun and I think our project will be fantastic. We’ve decided that our presentation would be done in the building itself (guess who had this original idea), which is still under construction, so everyone will have to wear hard hats and we’ll have to bring our own chairs… and hoping there will be power and heat in the building already… it’ll be fun! Of course Dan and Owen can get us all the authorizations we need… that’s the fun of knowing important people :) you MUST go see those pictures if you haven’t, they are boring but some are funny and you’ll see why we’ll need hard hats. And we even thought of publishing our presentation into a professional journal, since we’re working on an original framework for construction management… it’d look kinda fun on my resume to have a construction paper written among all the other education papers… which, by the way, I JUST GOT PUBLISHED!!!!!!! Yeah, first article!!!!!! And there’s also the article that George Braine and I are working on… niiiiice!
Anyway, time to go write about sociolinguistics and language planning… I DO hope to hear from you people out there… I’m doing my part here, don’t let me down!
