Not much going on this Labor Day weekend. It’s been raining all day, which makes me very happy since that means I will finally be able to sleep and that fall is catching up on us; yesterday, I went to the Global Fest, which is something like an international fair, with food from different countries, shows, music, etc. It was fun! It’s always difficult for me to move my fat and get to actually DO things, but once I am there, I never regret it. Now, I’ve basically been doing homework all day, let’s see: reading about sociolinguistics (beurk) and reading about how to conceive and build new dorms and other buildings on campuses, how to get the money to build them, how to hire a “design-build” team of architects to make the whole project work, and how to involve staff, students, faculty, alumni, sponsors, and donors into the project design and then how to keep communicating with all these people on the progress of things. Yes yes, it SOUNDS boring, but I actually enjoy this kind of stuff, since, if you remember, I used to be an “architectural design” major, since it’s practical and not theoretical, and since i really do want to manage a language school one day. One more thing to be grateful for in your life: there are people who actually LIKE to do such work so you don’t have to do it yourself ![]()
Other than that… I cook, all the time, and consequently eat, ALL THE TIME! Considering that I’ve also brought back from Europe at least 10 lbs of swiss and french chocolate and don’t know my new students well enough yet to share it with them, I am now gaining about 1 lb per week and that’s pretty scary.
Happy b-day to Myq (5th), Michele (7th), and David A. (24th)! If you guys were here, I’d cook you some really sweet french dessert
OK enough for now, PLEASE write me to let me know how things are going with you all… and I’m going to make some “gougeres” tonight! YUMM!!
