Hi everyone, this is Nishit. The first week of english class is over. It was a very nice experiance for me as I have never studied away from home. It was also very tough because I had to manage everything all by myself like my homework, my food, laundry and lots of other things. But overall it was a very good experiance. I also made some friends here and went to the Tippicanue Mall. It was a hugh mall. A lot of homework has been given so I dont get much time to enjoy but in my free time I play pool and ping pong in my dorm. Weekend was very gloomy. It was raining all day so we cound not go out much. Now the second week has started so its time for me to get back to work. cya

Yeah, how do you like the new design of our page? Anyone who wants to do better is free to do so, be creative, you might get a few points of extra credit!
Here are a few important things:
- Remember to do your homework because things are starting to count already and I am worrried about some people!
- Also remember that when you write here, everyone should be able to understand what you write, so no "LOL" or other kinds of chatroom language please.
- When you come here, make sure to read previous posts because other people might have responded to your comments or your questions! Enjoy :)
hi...
I am Diyana. Thanks God..I have finished my first week. It was a very tough time that I ever had. this is my first time away from home. I miss my family very much and I called my mother everyday. My first wek here is really terrible. Even though Purdue is not too big but i was confusing with the class and the schedule. My class is clshed wiht one another. I got two different class at one time. It really hard for me to choose which class to attend. Finally, i got to drop one class.
Iwas really busy that wek because there too many thigs to do at the same time. I got classes to attend, i needed to ee my advisor, i need to buy the text book, handle the fees and got to go to th elab everyday to search and download notes. My appart ments is at hiltop and i have to ride my bicycle up the small hill. With too much work and the house that is far from the campus make me felt too exhausted to stay here. At last, I managed to finish everything during the holidays and back to my normal life again.
Actually, it's really good to be here because people in Purdue are very nice. Within this first week, I have make alot of friends. i got great lecturers from different country and races. They are very nice and i like them very much.
Hi this is Hans. The first of class was a disaster for me. I have to move in to a new place and also go to class. Talking about moving in to a new place. It is not a joke. I have so many things to buy and to unpack. Moreover, I have to call the electricity guy to get connected, the phone line company to get a new line and the internet company to get hooked up. All these processes require a lot of work and time. Besides that, I have to find some of friends to help me out moving; rent and return a truck and so on. So, I would say that the first week of class was really productive to me. Furthermore, on friday I was drenched while trying to get some free food in front of the Union. It was fun running in the rain trying to grab some free stuff. I manage to grab a few boxes of Krispy Kreme dougnuts.
Throughout the first week, I manage to find a lot of new things in Purdue. I learned that things can be returned without any questions asked. In addition, text books in Purdue are really expensive. But I manage to grab a few at my hometown before coming over to Purdue. So, it save me a lot of money. Another way is getting the textbooks online through www.half.com, the books there are way cheaper.
Lastly, I had a really hectic but productive week. I like all my classes so far and the work load is pretty considerable for this semester. Thanks for reading and take care.
Hi, this is Esteban. What can I say of my first week of classes? I can tell you it has indeed been a very different experience from what I am acostumed to in my country. I really like the way that all my classes have been structured and focused towards the student. I have been able to meet many people from a great variety of countries. Most of the classes I'm in are in need of much sacrifice on my behalf and lots of study, but hopefully I can live up to my expectations and be able to accomplish all my goals for this semester. On a more personal side, I can describe myself as a very independent person and am not homesick at the time. I was born into a big family (we are six brothers and sisters) so my house was always noisy and everyday there were friends coming in and things to do. That, I think, is what I miss about my home, but I understand that there are some thing in life that you have to sacrifice, like being with your friends and family, in order to accomplish greater things that will develop your skills and fullfill your dreams. Moving from a tropical weather to here will be a huge change. I have never lived outside of my country, where we only have two seasons, rainy and dry, and living here where it snows and where it's cold will be certainly very different. I can barely wait to get back to my country on December for the holidays as these dates is when we have summer there.
I definitely miss the beaches of Costa Rica. We have beaches on both the Pacific and Caribbean Oceans and I usually went to the beach at least once a week. We have beutiful white sand beaches located just one hour and a half from our nations capital, and to drive to the beach that is the furthest away, it would probably take us no more than 6 hours! I always went to surf with my friends and we had great times.
Getting back to my college life, I like the teachers I've had, they all seem like they really know what they are talking about and show lots of interest in the student. The only thing I dislike about them is that some of theme are giving out tons of work!
I guess this is all for know... see you in class.
Greetings classmates! What can one say about his/her first week of school? Allow me to start by saying that is has been pretty hectic; buying the books, lurking around the campus in search of new friends, and enjoying my classes like the all other semester. With this semester being my third, I have not encountered any signs of homesickness in the past few days nor have I been blessed with new experiences. Last spring, however, was not of a good of a semester and in which I was homesick.
I will have to disagree with you Arjun in regard to the enjoyment of being drenched in the rain. I was supposed to be skydiving on Sunday, unfortunately, because of the bad weather I regret to tell you that I have not. I also regret to tell you that I have not enjoyed any part of this weekend because of the bad weather.
As for the wonderful Purdue University campus, all I have to say is I love it. The trees color the campus with green and bring life to its confines. The winter, on the contrary, is the total opposite. The best description floating across my thoughts is pale. My experiences in the past few months at Purdue University and across this state taught me to accept what I have. During the winter, I had begged for the summer, and now that summer is here, I am begging for the winter!
I have a suggestion that would be very useful for you, Rohit. Try logging on SSINFO. Click on the Student Organizations' link, and there you will definitely find some info about any Purdue Tennis Club.

Hi, my name is Kester. My first week of this semester was not very good. In fact, it was a busy day for me. I got lost when I wanted to go to the PUSH to take care of my insurance, I had to take a bus to the University for the first time here (without City Bus Catalogue), I had to rearrange my class because there was one class that was still on the waiting list, and so many homework and many other things.
Yesterday, I went to Chicago to take my parents to the airport. But when we were on the way home, we got lost. It was raining all the time and we didn't know where we were going. When we looked for a sign, it said, "Welcome to Michigan City."
For classes, all of them are good, except for this English class. (Iˆ¢’Ǩ’Ñ¢m just kidding :p) All of them is good but the time is really annoying. I have a class that starts from 7:30-8:20 then from 11:30-12:20 and from 4:30-5:20. So, I have to go back and forth from my apartment to campus three times a day. It sounds like as if we are going to drink medicine.
That's all about it, see you all tomorrow.

Hello, Everybody, this Daniel again, writing in what I truly hoped to be a work-free weekend. Ok, my first week was'nt that bad, I've probably experienced what everyone could expect to encounter on the first week of University. Well, these were the highlights - I got lost within three days of arriving here, and ended up wandering for three hours in the noon-day sun somewhere in the vicinity of Lambert Field and Cary Quad before finding my way back to McCutcheon, I was in BGR and had a wonderful time, I had my first Belgian waffle(s), my first major sun-burn, I got caught in my first Indiana thunderstorm and ended up soaked, miserable, and with one missed chemistry lab class: the good news: I didn't get struck by lightening! Hope you guys get used to my weird sense of humour, it can get away from me sometimes! Well, my first wasn't that bad in the greater scheme of things, I'm definitely more mature as a result of it. So, hey, take it from me ya'll. Look up at a stormy sky, and challenge it to throw the worst it can at you, you'll come through it a better person, I guarantee it !! See you all on Tuesday...
This is Rohit signing in. My first week was a blast. The classes were all good. There was a lot work to be done but I am used to that.
I made a lot of friends in my first week. And on Friday night we stayed awake till 4am in the Cary lounge playing pool and table tennis. All of you are welcome to join us next Friday. Just bring your laundry as well.
I don’Äôt understand Alan’Äôs logic of choosing subjects. Why would you take more credits than you know you can’Äôt handle? I mean you choose your subjects...so why would you need an intro class to make up your mind?
This weekend I played tennis. I want to know how to join up to play tennis for Purdue. Anybody know anything?
Purdue is a huge place; so commuting is very difficult. But it’Äôs also a lovely place.
And the rain on Friday was lovely. A change from the hot weather we have been having the past week.
I know that the classes are going to be getting tougher as the second week beckons. But I will be ready
Hi! This is Loc. My first week was tired and confusing. I spend a lot of time finding my directions and waiting for the buses. At the beginning of the week the weather is not pleasant. Hot, hot! It was too hot to wait for a bus for a long time in a place without the shade of a tree. I even use the shade of a electric post making my kids to laugh because it funny; but, I got cool off anyway. I think It is ridiculous to spend too much time to commute and walking instead of studying; it even worse in the winter. Living of and faraway of campus is one of my disadvantages. Not the same as Alan I only took the class that I intended to keep. I like most of the classes that I enrolled only trouble I have that I often late for biology after English class.
It was rain on Friday and it was interesting to see umbrella everywhere in many colors and styles. I feel alive to going back to school. Talk to you next time.
